Special Exhibition Commemorating Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai Japan, An Artistic Melting Pot
大阪・関西万博開催記念 特別展「日本、美のるつぼ―異文化交流の軌跡―」
Taking the opportunity of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, a comprehensive exhibition showcasing the treasures of Japanese art, born from the exchange of Eastern and Western art and culture throughout history, will be held!
Since ancient times, the Japanese archipelago has been exposed to different cultures through maritime exchanges, resulting in the creation of various artworks in the encounters. Each piece is a fruit of rich cultural exchange, a miracle born from the fusion of diverse cultures in what can be called the "melting pot" of Japan.
This exhibition meticulously selects 200 cultural assets, including 19 National Treasures and 53 Important Cultural Properties, from paintings, sculptures, calligraphy, and crafts spanning from the Yayoi and Kofun periods to the Meiji period to trace the hidden tracks of cross-cultural exchanges in Japanese art.
