Flower Market

花市
This event originates from a traditional market dating back to the Heian period, initially started in the precincts of Imamiya Shrine to celebrate the New Year. As the event gains popularity over the years, a variety of stalls line the approach to the shrine, offering potted plants, lucky charms, sundries, and food, drawing large crowds. The current flower market takes place mainly on Suehiro Street, offering local people and tourists a delightful atmosphere. Throughout the event, various stalls stand side by side, each selling items with unique characteristics. The lucky charms and fresh potted plants are particularly popular, and region-specific items that are hard to find elsewhere can also be discovered. Additionally, as a special program, demonstrations by local craftsmen are held, allowing visitors to see traditional techniques up close. For tourists, the warm atmosphere and hospitality from the locals will enhance the quality of their experience. When visiting, it is recommended to tour the stalls with a unified theme, taking time to browse each store slowly and search for rare items that match your preferences, creating a most enjoyable experience.
