The Nantai Mountain Climbing Festival is a historically rich festival dating back to the late Nara period, deeply reflecting the Nantai Mountain faith. During the festival, the Futara-san Shrine Chugushi is bustling with visitors, with special attention given to the midnight Nantai Mountain climb and the inner sanctuary visit. The inner sanctuary visit is a special experience unique to this period and is the only one of its kind in Japan. Approximately 2,000 participants challenge the nighttime climb, and the moment of witnessing the sunrise from the summit is moving.
