Bonten Dedication at Kamo Shrine

加茂神社梵天奉納
The Grand Festival of Kamo Shrine centers around the Bonten dedication using Moso bamboo. During this event, agricultural groups and children's associations participate, forcefully striking the ground with bamboo over 10 meters tall in front of the torii, then vigorously running up the 300-meter approach. This is a traditional and powerful event with the meaning of praying for rain.

Kamo Shrine, the venue, is located in Nasukarasuyama City, Tochigi Prefecture, about 10 minutes by taxi from JR Karasuyama Station and around 45 minutes by car from the Utsunomiya Kaminokawa IC on the Kita-Kanto Expressway.

This event allows participants to deeply experience the local traditions and culture, providing a valuable learning opportunity for tourists as well.

When visiting, it's recommended to interact with the locals, not only participating in the Bonten dedication but also enjoying the scenery around the shrine and the rural landscape.
