Tenno Festival
天王祭
The "Tenno Festival," held in early July every year, is known as a men's festival that marks the beginning of summer in Izu. The sound of festival drums echoes through Toi Onsen in early summer, and lively portable shrines are paraded through the town until evening in this vibrant celebration. Youth and children's mikoshi, known as O-waka and Ko-waka, are brought out from each district, competing with pride and spirit representing their local communities. The dynamic spectacle vividly conveys the traditions and temperament of Toi, a town that once thrived as a fishing village, bringing the whole town to life with the excitement of the festival.
