Tennou Festival
天王祭
The "Tennou Festival" held every early July is known as the men's festival that marks the beginning of summer in Izu. The sound of festival drums echoes in Toi Onsen in early summer, and the lively festival features splendid mikoshi parading through the town until evening. Young men and boys, bearing the "Owaka" and "Kowaka" mikoshi from each district, engage in spirited performances with local pride and elegance. These thrilling scenes convey the culture and spirit of Toi, a once-thriving fishing town, to modern times, and the town resonates with the heat of the festival.
