43rd Numazu Tea Gathering
第43回ぬまづ茶会
The Numazu Tea Gathering has been held annually on the second Sunday of May since Showa year 58, as a commemorative event for the city’s 60th anniversary. The event began when the locally grown Yabukita tea was presented to Emperor Showa. Its purpose is to promote the local industry of "tea" and allow citizens to experience the atmosphere of outdoor tea gatherings at the Goyotei residence, enhancing local culture.
In the early summer sunshine, tea ceremonies from seven schools are conducted outdoors. Anyone, with or without tea ceremony experience, may participate. We welcome everyone to join and enjoy this charming tea gathering.
Amidst the refreshing early summer sunshine, outdoor tea events are held by six tea ceremony schools and the sencha tea ceremony school in the city. With participation from 7 schools (Omote Senke, Ura Senke Tankokai, Dai Nippon Sado Gakkai, Tokai-ryu, Soha-ryu, Ura Senke Tosei Branch, Sencha), each session accommodates 15 people and runs for 40 minutes starting from 10:30. No prior reservation is needed. (Tickets sold only on the day). Everyone, with or without tea ceremony experience, is invited to join. Please come and participate.
While exploring the park, enjoy the culture of Japanese tea.
