The Nenbutsu Dance held on August 16th during Obon. This dance is performed in a simple attire consisting of yukata, bell, and drum. It is said to start and end with nenbutsu, with the prelude 'Rokko' and the postlude 'Hanaburi'. Started about 280 years ago, this nenbutsu dance was interrupted post-war but was revived by the formation of the Rokujai Nenbutsu Preservation Society by local people and was designated as an important intangible cultural heritage by Kyoto Prefecture in Showa 60.
