Tahara's Onda

田原の御田
A traditional performance art that simulates the rice field farming process over a year to pray for abundant harvests. While similar performances can be seen throughout the country, this is the only place where the process from sowing to rice harvesting is consistently shown. The witty and light performances by two attendants called Saku Taro and Saku Jiro, in the style of Kyogen (traditional Japanese comic theater), are highlights. It is designated as a nationally significant intangible folk cultural asset. Cultural asset nationally designated significant intangible folk cultural property.
