During the Kogashi Festival, which is the annual grand festival of Kinomiya Shrine, the "Dashi Competition" is held on July 15th and 16th as part of the festivities. This is the largest event in Atami, conducted with traffic restrictions on National Route 135. The highlights of the festival are the traditional wooden floats from each neighborhood, creatively decorated floats, and portable shrines (mikoshi).
