This is a muddy sports festival held on the tidal flats created by the tidal changes of the Ariake Sea. Unique competitions such as mud skiing races and mudflat cycling attract much attention. Around 2,000 international students from across Japan and about 10 countries participate, drawing an audience of approximately 35,000—making it a major event.
