Omura Hanashobu Festival

おおむら花菖蒲まつり
At Omura Park, selected as one of the '100 Historical Parks of Japan', the Hanashobu Festival takes place to coincide with the blooming of irises from late May to early June each year. Events include the sale of local specialties and performances of folk arts. In the largest iris garden in Kyushu, located on the ruins of Kushima Castle, the residence of the Omura feudal lord, about 300,000 irises from the Edo, Higo, and Ise varieties bloom magnificently. The elegant and sophisticated irises harmonize beautifully with the stone walls and the white walls of the Boarding Yagura of the castle ruins, offering a picturesque view.
