The cherry blossoms on Mount Hiei are at their best during Golden Week. Particularly, the double-flowered cherry blossoms at the West Pagoda parking lot are spectacular. Mount Hiei's cherry blossoms include Matsuzuki, Kanzan, Pufi Xiang, Gizhi, Kibune, Shirayuki, Higashinishiki, and particularly beautiful are Kikuzakura, Kirin, Fukurouju, and Yang Guifei, with about 40 species of trees, each showing a unique beauty. During Golden Week, Sutoin at the West Pagoda offers a meditation experience.
