The Hiyoshi Shinmiya Grand Festival, originating from Hiyoshi Taisha in Omi Sakamoto, is known as a rare and spectacular fire festival nationwide. At the main festival at midnight, young people carry a mikoshi shrine and dash along the 450-meter approach road illuminated by torches, which is truly breathtaking. Approximately 25,000 people attend the festival.
