The "Kitakami Tenshochi," one of Tohoku's premier cherry blossom sites, is among the "100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots" and the "Three Great Sakura Spots of Michinoku." In 2021, it celebrated its 100th anniversary. Within the vast grounds, there are said to be about 150 types of various cherry blossoms, totaling around 10,000 trees. Among them, the approximately 2km-long cherry blossom avenue along the Kitakami River is spectacular. During the festival, folk performing arts such as the Oni Kenbai can also be enjoyed on holidays.
