Sanno Matsuri (Grand Festival of Hie Shrine)

山王まつり(日枝神社大祭)
The Great Mountain Ruler God (Ooyamakui no Kami), who governs the mountains, is deeply revered by those in the electric power, timber, civil engineering, and paper manufacturing industries. Held annually from May 31st to June 2nd, the spring grand festival "Sanno Matsuri" is the most important festival of the Hie Shrine. The festival features events such as the parishioner mikoshi procession, mikoshi togyo, flower offering ceremony, tsuitachi manju, lion dance, and children's mikoshi dedication, attracting about 250,000 visitors over the three days. The shrine grounds are vibrant with approximately 50 shops and numerous stalls.
