The Great Homa Ceremony heralding spring at Mount Hiei. With His Holiness the Tendai Zasu presiding as the Grand Master, monks of Mount Hiei and itinerant practitioners pray for world peace. In front of the statue of Dengyo Daishi (Saicho) at the Saito Umichi Parking Lot, a large cauldron is set up where approximately hundreds of thousands of goma sticks requested from all over the country are cast into the blazing flames along with the practitioners' prayers, wishing for the fulfillment of various wishes.
