Yamanaka Bushi Utaiyanko
山中節 唄いやんこ
The 'Yamanaka Bushi', counted as one of Japan's top three folk songs, is said to have started being sung during the Genroku period.
The captain of the Kaga Kitamaebune, which sailed the Sea of Japan, learned Matsumae Oiwake or Esashi Oiwake from Hokkaido and hummed it while soaking in the hot springs. It was imitated in the Yamanaka dialect by bathers, marking the beginning of 'Yamanaka Bushi'.
The 'Yamanaka Bushi Utaiyanko' event takes place against the backdrop of Kikunoyu, the birthplace of Yamanaka Bushi, attracting folk song enthusiasts of all ages from inside and outside the town who sing regardless of skill and enjoy listening.
Let's go listen to the popular folk songs nationwide.
