Shimada Grand Festival (Obi Festival)

島田大祭(帯まつり)
This is a grand festival of Ōi Shrine, dedicated to the water deity. It features a procession of daimyo, accompanied by the great retainers, Kashima dance, etc., parading through the town. These collectively are known as the Obi Festival. In the daimyo procession, the main attraction is the 25 great retainers, wearing black cotton long-sleeve kimono with luxurious lady's belts, which is a splendid sight.
