The BIWAKO Biennale is an art event centered around Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, encompassing approximately 24 venues including the old streets of Omi Hachiman and the urban areas of Hikone, where artists from across Japan and abroad exhibit their works. By touring these venues, deeply rooted in history and tradition, you can experience the rich culture and climate alongside the artworks. Artists use various techniques to utilize the presence of buildings, drawing out the charm of the towns and buildings, breathing new life into the spaces.
