Shiraishi Dance

白石踊
It is said to have started in order to console the spirits of those who died in the Battle of Mizushima between the Genji and the Heike clans. With a single rhythm, there are more than ten types of dances, such as men's and women's dances, all performed at the same time in a single circle. Because this is a dance to comfort spirits, instead of clapping hands, dancers bring their hands together in a unique style, making it a one-of-a-kind dance. It is held in front of the Shiraishi Community Center from August 13th to 15th, and at the beach on August 16th.
