This festival originates from the dedication made by Minamoto no Yoritomo during his Fuji hunting expedition. On the 5th of the main festival, the Yabusame Festival is solemnly held in front of the gods. After that, priests, warriors, and children parade through the city on horseback. This is followed by a heroic Ogasawara-style Yabusame performed by Kamakura warriors in hunting attire at the riding ground.
