Traditional Japanese Boat Race (Seiguro)

和船競漕(せいぐろ)
An event traditionally passed down in the Aongura area. Held annually on Children's Day to promote regional revitalization, abundant harvests, and the healthy growth of children. About 10 people board three traditional Japanese boats and compete for time by taking flags placed between buoys on a 300-meter round-trip course set in the bay. Designated as an intangible folk cultural asset by the city. Designated year: September 2009.
