Omine Mountain Opening Ceremony
大峯山戸開式
As a secret rite of Shugendo with a long tradition, the Omine Mountain opening ceremony takes place early in the morning on May 3rd. The main hall of Omine Temple, closed during winter, is opened by practitioners and lecturers on this day. From this day until the gate closes on September 23, the area will be bustling with many worshippers and climbers. ※Due to religious reasons, only men are allowed to enter Omine Mountain (Sanjo-ga-take).

Transportation：60-minute walk from "Dorogawa Onsen" bus stop 180-minute walk from "Omine Ohashi" at the entrance ※Paid parking is available at Omine Ohashi. Reaching the summit requires serious hiking 80-minute bus ride from Shimoichiguchi Station on the Kintetsu Yoshino Line to Dorogawa Onsen
