Kumedera Religious Service

久米寺練供養
A festival before the busy spring farming season. Known as 'Kume Renzo' (Kume Eski), this event gathers many young and old people from the nearby areas. It features the chanting of the Great Prajna Sutra, and includes activities by parishioners, hermit lecturers, chanting groups, monks, the head priest, and a children's parade. Following this, led by a statue of Yakushi Nyorai, twenty-five Bodhisattvas cross a nearly 100-meter-long bridge with the help of escorts, heading to the main hall. A ceremony for Kume Sennin's longevity is also held. Additionally, beautiful azaleas can be viewed within the temple grounds at this time.
