Yami Shrine Festival

彌美神社例祭
The Dance of the King, performed during the festival at Yami Shrine, is said to have evolved from the ancient dragon king dance in old court music. It comprises one dancer (an unmarried man), one drummer, and six flutists. The dancer wears red clothing, a Tengu mask, a phoenix crown, barefoot with white socks, holding a sword and fan, and dances while wielding a halberd. This graceful and beautiful dance, along with the melodies of ancient court music, is a poetic ritual.
