A memorial service to honor the virtues of Emperor Shomu, who founded Todaiji Temple, on the anniversary of his death. In the morning, the Saisho Jikkō service is held at the Tenno-den east of the Great South Gate, and in the afternoon, a grand parade and Emperor Shomu memorial service take place at the Great Buddha Hall. Furthermore, dance performances and ceremonial celebrations are conducted at the Kagami Pond in front of the Great Buddha Hall.
