Every May 3rd, the annual Matsumae Port Festival is held at Matsumae Port and Takihime Shrine. It is cherished as a local fishing festival, and the venue sells fresh fish, fish fries, and other harbor-specific products. Additionally, there are mochi throwing events, tuna dismantling shows, fishing boat parades, karaoke contests, fish-catching experiences for elementary school children and younger, treasure hunting games, and more, attracting many people. The venue is about a 15-minute walk from Matsumae Station, making it very accessible.
