Seaweed Harvest Ritual

Since ancient times, Futamiura has been a place for purification before visiting Ise Jingu. There is a custom of giving Mukushioruo to visitors who cannot bathe, and in this ritual, seaweed used as material is collected. Priests board a boat adorned with Sakaki and Nobori, cut seaweed by hand sickles at sea, offer them, and after drying, make Mukushio Taima.
