Yabusame at Hagi Hiyoshi Shrine
萩日吉神社のやぶさめ
This is an event held every three years, believed to be conducted by the retainers of Kiso Yoshinaka, where three families from Myokakyo (Tokigawa Town) and four families from Ogawago (Ogawa Town) dedicate yabusame (archery on horseback) at Hagi Hiyoshi Shrine. It is said to have started in the first year of Tenpuku (1233), and it continues to convey the brave appearance of medieval Musashi samurai. Scheduled to be held on January 18, 2026 (Sunday), the third Sunday of January, every 3 years.
