The annual 'Koinobori Festival' at Hakui City's 'Fukae Hachiman Shrine' is set to take place!

Located in Hakui City, Fukae Hachiman Shrine has long served as a guardian deity of the area, becoming a spiritual haven where locals can drop by for prayer or tea. The priest, Mr. Miyatani, warmly welcomes all visitors, creating a cozy atmosphere throughout the shrine.

The 'Koinobori Festival', held every year at Fukae Hachiman Shrine during the May Tango no Sekku, will kick off this year on May 3rd (Saturday/holiday) with around 100 koi streamers adorning the precincts. The sight of numerous koi streamers of various sizes and colors swimming leisurely is truly spectacular.

 "Nowadays, the opportunity to display large koi streamers at home has decreased; thus, we want to show this scenery to the children"—that's the thought that initiated this festival. Over the years, it has gained popularity, becoming a sought-after event not only for locals but also for tourists.

During the festival, stalls selling draft beer, soft drinks, curry rice, shaved ice, and other snacks and sweets will set up shop. There’s also a mini fair for children to enjoy. At night, the koi streamers are illuminated by lanterns, offering a fantastical view that's completely different from the daytime.

Although the festival is limited to four days, the koi streamers will be on display until early June. Why not pay a visit and capture some memories?
