The National Selected Amateur Sumo Championship is a reformation of the Hassaku Grand Sumo, which is said to have originated in the Azuchi-Momoyama period, in 1970. It is a title match recognized by the Japan Sumo Federation. Strong competitors selected from all over the country gather in Tsubata Town to compete for the prestigious Prime Minister's Cup. Be sure to watch the powerful bouts at the venue.
