Located at the foot of Mount Bizan, Tokushima Bizan Ten Shrine is about a 10-minute walk from JR Tokushima Station towards Mount Bizan, adjacent to the Awa Odori Kaikan. The Tenjin Festival is held at Tenmangu and Ten Shrines across the country to commemorate the death anniversary of the god Sugawara no Michizane. Among the male and children's mikoshi, the 'Gyaru Mikoshi', famously carried by women known as the 'Wisdom Mikoshi', is particularly famous. After the ceremony, about 40 women in happi coats will parade with the mikoshi through Higashi Shinmachi Shopping Street and other areas.
