This Shodo Performance Koshien is an event held in Shikokuchuo City, Japan’s leading paper-making town, aimed at refining the essence of traditional calligraphy while exploring new charms of the art form. Its objectives are to contribute to the creation and development of new culture, to promote regional artistic and cultural exchange through calligraphy, as well as to encourage the growth of the paper industry and revitalize the local community. High school calligraphy club members from all over Japan participate, using their creativity to perform dynamic calligraphy to music on large sheets of paper. These powerful and moving calligraphy performances are a must-see.
