One of the three major festivals in Hyuga, this festival is held in the port town of Hososhima. The men of the port town split into eastern and western districts, lifting and carrying around the town of Hososhima massive taiko drum platforms that weigh about 2 tons. The highlight is the dramatic finale, when the taiko drum platforms are brought together, captivating all who watch with their powerful display.
