With the slogan "The Number One Taiko Festival at Mt. Fuji, the Number One Mountain in Japan," this festival began in 1986 (Showa 61). With Mt. Fuji as the backdrop, powerful taiko drum performances unfold. There are many highlights, including the Dedication Taiko Ceremony, the National High School Taiko Championships, and local taiko shows. Especially noteworthy is the "Solo-Drumming Contest," considered the symbol of the Fuji Taiko Festival, where taiko performers from all over Japan gather and compete by playing one of the world's largest taiko drums, making it a main attraction.
