At Akogiura Beach, the "Tsu Fireworks Festival" is held from late July to early August. This is a historic fireworks event that began in the Taisho era, where a variety of star mines are rapidly launched in quick succession from barges that come very close to the viewing seats. Highlights include the 100-shot consecutive maritime fireworks, the simultaneous launch of ten extra-large shells, and a luxurious grand finale, all of which make for an impressive spectacle. When the fireworks shells thrown into the sea from speeding boats bloom, their radiant display resembles peacocks spreading their feathers all at once.
