Family Nature Program: Fishing in the Ishikawa River Midstream
Family Nature Program 石川中流での魚とり
The 'Family Nature Program' held at Ishikawa Riverside Park is an event where parents and children can experience catching fish together. Participants listen to staff explanations while actually using nets in the river to look for creatures and learn tips on how to catch fish. The highlight of this event is that families can enter the river together and fully enjoy the fun of interacting with nature.
Various river creatures such as shrimp, oikawa, crucian carp, kamatsuka, loach, and eel inhabit the venue. There are areas set up for observing the caught creatures and corners where you can learn about the timing to release them back into the river.
As a special feature, there are opportunities to see rare eels and listen to explanations that can only be experienced on-site. By directly touching the creatures, you'll discover things you can't usually experience.
After reading this far, we highly recommend that you enter the river with your child and try catching real creatures with your hands or a net. The moment you find fish poking their heads out of the water is sure to be a memorable family moment.
