Miyazaki Prefectural Art Museum 1st Collection Exhibition

宮崎県立美術館 第1期 コレクション展

This is a collection exhibition introducing the roughly 4,200 works housed in the Miyazaki Prefectural Art Museum. The exhibition features not only works by local artists but also many pieces by internationally renowned artists,
earning rave reviews even from visitors outside the prefecture. The collection exhibition is held four times a year, each time with a different diverse theme.

As for overseas artists, the exhibition includes works by Paul Signac, a leading figure of Neo-Impressionism, and the 20th-century giant Pablo Picasso. Additionally, a special highlight is the public debut of a photography piece by Man Ray, a Surrealist artist whose work was newly added to the museum's collection last year and is a focus of the museum's collecting efforts.

For Japanese artists, the exhibition features works by Takeji Fujishima, a pioneer in the early days of Japanese Western-style painting, as well as works by Onosato Toshinobu and Shigeru Izumi, who were close friends with Miyazaki's representative artist Eikyu.

There will also be a special exhibition focusing on the clothing and accessories worn by the figures depicted in the artworks. Be sure to enjoy the masterpieces created by artists who have left their mark in art history.
