Tove Jansson and the Moomins
トーベとムーミン展~とっておきのものを探しに~
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the publication of the Moomin novels, the "Tove Jansson and the Moomins" will be held.
Tove Jansson (1914-2001), the creator of Moomin, was an artist who demonstrated her talents in a variety of fields including painting, satire, comics, picture books, and novels. Through approximately 300 exhibits—featuring her early oil paintings, pre- and post-WWII satirical artworks, original drawings and sketches from the "Moomin" novels and comics, as well as her cherished personal items—this exhibition looks back on Tove's creative world. It also delves into the charm of the "Moomin" series as deeply influenced by Tove's own life.
Even 80 years after their creation, the "Moomin" series continues to captivate people all over the world with its vibrancy. The story features a diverse cast of unique characters, who accept one another just as they are and live freely. The tales, closely tied to Tove's life and values and imbued with "diversity" and "tolerance", resonate with many fans.
At the venue, visitors can experience immersive displays evoking the world of "Moomin", and will also discover Tove's murals, which are little known in Japan. Don’t miss this opportunity to fully enjoy the charm of the "Moomin" series and the rich creative universe of Tove, its source.
