Gassan Opening Festival is held every year on July 1st at Gassan Shrine on the summit of Mt. Gassan. Prayers are offered for the repose of ancestral spirits, the safety of climbers, and a bountiful harvest. It is a solemn mountain opening event where worshippers gather from all over the country. During the festival season, you can also see rare plants such as "black lilies" (Kuroyuri). We invite you to visit and experience the beautiful nature for yourself.
