秩父川瀬祭

The Chichibu Kawase Festival is one of the Shinto rituals for warding off evil diseases, in which four floats and four kasaboko (decorated portable shrines) are pulled around by children. On the evening of the 19th, the Tenno-bashira ritual is held within the shrine precincts, and on the afternoon of the 20th, the "Mikoshi Washing Ritual" is performed, in which the portable shrine is jostled in the Arakawa River.
