Kawagoe Million Lantern Summer Festival
川越百万灯夏まつり
It is said to have originated in 1850 (Kaei 3), when lanterns were hung under the eaves in remembrance of the virtues of Lord Matsudaira Sadaaki. Since 1982 (Showa 57), it has been loved as the "Civic Festival." Various events are held by local shopping streets.
