Sakai Alphonse Mucha Museum Special Exhibition “Mucha: Mysterious Paintings”
堺 アルフォンス・ミュシャ館 特別展「ミュシャ 謎の絵画」
At the special exhibition "Mucha: The Mysterious Painting" held at the Sakai Alphonse Mucha Museum, the phantom painting "Quo Vadis" will be woven using the techniques of "Sakai Dantsu," a traditional craft of Sakai. The venue is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Sakai-shi Station, in the Bellemarche Sakai Nibankan building. Inside the venue, alongside the display of Mucha's precious works and materials, the fine craftsmanship and production process of Sakai Dantsu will also be introduced, offering an enjoyable fusion of art and craft. Furthermore, the recreation of "Quo Vadis" through weaving will be unveiled for the first time, exclusively for this special exhibition. This is a unique art experience born from the blend of Mucha and Sakai traditions that can only be seen here. We highly recommend spending a luxurious moment at the venue, immersing yourself in the world of Mucha while closely appreciating the beauty of the intricate weaving.
