"Let’s Experience Glutinous Rice Cultivation" is a three-part program held at Izumisano Hill Green Zone, offering participants hands-on Japanese traditional farming experiences. You can immerse yourself in the wisdom of the old days and manual work amidst the terraced fields. A distinctive feature is working together with volunteer park club members. The first session involves trying traditional rice planting by hand. In the second session, participants actually harvest rice using sickles and also learn how to dry the crops. In the final session, you’ll use traditional Japanese farming tools like the foot-operated thresher and the winnower to finish processing the glutinous rice yourself. The appeal lies in directly engaging in each step. Additionally, on the first day, there is a limited somen noodle tasting. Interactions with other participants and local residents are also special aspects unique to this event. If I were to recommend one thing, savor the hand-planting on the first day and enjoy tasting somen under the blue sky. This hands-on farming experience will awaken all your senses, creating special memories beyond ordinary life.
