Mitoya Tenmangu Shrine is one of the "Three Great Tenjin Shrines of Izumo" enshrining Sugawara no Michizane. The annual festivals are held three times a year in spring, summer, and autumn. At the summer festival, various events such as a fireworks display, mikoshi procession, children's mikoshi, children's taiko drumming, and kakiai taiko performances take place. The festival venues include Mitoya Tenmangu Shrine, Mitoya shopping street, and many other locations. There are also fun activities such as festival stalls for children and a beer garden organized by the youth division of the Chamber of Commerce. The area around the shrine is lined with night stalls and bustling with many visitors.
