Using a 13.5-meter-long model of a blue whale, traditional whaling practices from the Edo period are reenacted. It is a must-see to watch the bravely dressed men in red loincloths, gathered through a nationwide call, boldly take on the whale. In the latter half, the traditional "Whale Song," which expresses feelings of condolence for the whale, is also performed. In addition, events such as traditional Japanese boat races and other activities utilizing the rich local fisheries heritage are held.
