Mifuneyu Kangen Festival

御船遊管絃祭
In October of the first year of Engen (1336), Emperor Go-Daigo ordered Nitta Yoshisada to proceed to Hokuriku, accompanied by Prince Takanaga and Prince Tsunenaga, the enshrined deities of Kanagasaki Shrine. They were welcomed by Kehiji, the chief priest of Kehi Shrine, and entered Kanagasaki Castle, but this place also came under attack by the Ashikaga army. Amidst these events, on October 20, after the troops temporarily withdrew, it is said that boats with musical performances floated on the waters of Tsuruga Bay to comfort the two princes as they enjoyed the autumn leaves and admired the moon. This festival originates from that elegant episode.
