Since 1968 (Showa 43), the summer festival has been held annually on a grand scale, organized by the Kikugawa Town Tourism Association. The Araoda Gion Festival is held at the same time. The area around the sports park and the Fureai Hall becomes the festival venue, featuring stage events, bazaars, beer gardens, and various other attractions. Every year, about 15,000 tourists visit to enjoy the fireworks display and various events. Around 2,000 fireworks launched up close are incredibly impressive, and you can experience the unique echoes that resonate through the Kikugawa Basin.
