Kōraku-en’s Lotus Viewing Festival in Okayama
岡山後楽園の観蓮節
One of the representative daimyo gardens of the Edo period and designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty by the Japanese government, Okayama Korakuen. “Kanren-sai” is an annual early morning event to appreciate the lotus flowers that bloom at dawn. On the day, the garden opens as early as 4:00 a.m. In addition to enjoying the slowly blooming lotus flowers, various activities are held, such as koto performances, tea ceremonies, and sales of lotus seed pods, seeds, and seedlings harvested in Korakuen. Advance tickets, which include admission, a tea ceremony ticket, and a light meal voucher, are also planned to be sold at tea shops in Okayama City (Tsujirien and Joshoen).
