New Year’s Eve Bell at Mii-dera

三井寺除夜の鐘
It is one of Japan's three famous bells and is also known as one of the Eight Views of Ōmi: the “Mii Evening Bell.” On New Year’s Eve, December 31, the Joya no Kane (New Year’s Eve bell) is rung at Mii-dera. Those who wish may also strike the bell themselves. Bell-ringing fee (includes commemorative gift): ¥1,000. Numbered tickets will be distributed from 22:30.

Transportation:Public Transportation Keihan Electric Railway/Ishiyama Sakamoto Line: get off at “Mii-dera”, 5 min walk JR Kosei Line: get off at “Otsukyo”, 5 min by car By Car Approximately 8 min from the Kyoto-higashi IC on the Meishin Expressway
